The Week That Was - 26th October 2015

There was excellent news on Monday as daughter, Sophia, has been placed for summer 2016 with Camp America. She'll leave university in June and and work in Oregon until August. Naturally, she's already been in touch with friends she met at camp this year and can't wait to go back. I'm so very proud of her for being invited to return for a second year.

I visited my father on Tuesday. He's been poorly with a chest infection and isn't looking after himself as well as he should. I did some gardening and tidied up his house - it's tough to see him not coping. Apart from spending extra time with him and helping out more than usual, I'm at a loss.

After much deliberation as to what to buy Mr A for his 50th, I finally settled on tickets for Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical, at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham. I also treated my husband to pre-theatre dinner at Bella Italia, I had the Cannelloni Ricotta followed by Tiramisu (which I'd devoured before remembering to take a picture - sorry). Both were delicious.

The show was fabulous, flamboyant and you can read the review here if you wish. That was Wednesday pretty much taken care of.

I attended a mentor training day on Thursday. As always it was brilliant to pick up some new skills and I left feeling I'd like to work in the sector full-time. I've been missing the buzz of the workplace for a while, so maybe it's time to update my CV and find a new job.

My sister cajoled me in to going shopping with her on Saturday. I agreed to go to Solihull and planned to buy some new winter clothes. Instead, I returned with a couple of presents for November birthdays, sore feet and a headache. Mr A cooked dinner when I arrived home. I may have taken a catnap on the sofa while he was busy in the kitchen.

With the extra hour on Sunday I managed a rare lie-in and completed so many tasks on the never-ending list inside my head that I actually surprised myself...

Loft sorting, eBay listing, eucalyptus chopping, car washing and blogging were tackled with great enthusiasm. This is referred to as a 'will-o'-the-wisp day,' at home. I'm unsure of its origins as a family phrase - although according to the dictionary a 'will-o'-the wisp' is: a person or thing that is difficult or impossible to find, reach, or catch - which I really like.

My favourite blog from last week comes from Lara (aka Plucky) over at Life and Love in London with her post, A day in my life. Anyone who leads a hectic lifestyle will be able to identify with this.

Anyway that's about it for the last week. For those of you who are lucky enough to be on holiday for half-term - I hope you have a wonderful week.
